Johannus organs officially launched in Ghana

Johannus Orgelbouw officially celebrated its entry into Ghana on May 8, 2015 with the opening of a dealership in Accra - under the auspices of Church Organs Ghana Ltd.

Entrepreneur Kofi Esson and Renowned Music Director James Ato Scott-Bennin own Church Organs Ghana Ltd, which has exclusive rights to showcase and market Johannus organs in Ghana and some other countries, west of Ghana.

A select number of guests present at the opening of the showroom were given a taste of the unique blend of sounds that could only come from a Johannus organ.

The launch event continued the following day with a recital by celebrated Dutch Organist, André van Vliet, at the plush 5-star Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra. André held court for almost three hours thrilling about four hundred guests with both solo compositions on the custom built Johannus Ecclesia D470 organ and also in accompaniment with the 30-member Ghanaian Harmonious Chorale Choir.

Four talented young Ghanaian organists also held the audience spellbound playing short pieces of different compositions before setting the stage for André and Harmonious Chorale to end the thrilling evening with a rousing rendition of Handel’s “Hallelujah Chorus”.

Church Organs Ghana Ltd has already installed three Johannus organs at the Accra Ridge Church, the Accra Calvary Methodist Church and the Mfantsipim School at Cape Coast. A fourth organ is due to be mounted at the Accra Police Church.
