Dozens of international pipe organs in your own living room

The Johannus LiVE is a high-quality digital organ that comes with sample sets enabling you to play on dozens of international pipe organs. The sample sets are uploaded into the digital organ using a USB stick. Each USB stick contains the authentic, professional recordings of a specific international pipe organ.
The highest standards for digital audio are used to play back the sampled sounds, so Johannus LiVE gives organists the feeling of playing a true-to-life, actual pipe organ.

From Groningen to Paris with the wave of a hand

The Johannus LiVE makes it possible for anyone to play true-to-life organs from dozens of famous international churches and cathedrals. The Schnitger organ from the Der Aa-kerk in Groningen, the Silbermann organ in the Katholische Hofkirche in Dresden, the Cavaillé-Coll organ in the Église Notre-Dame d'Auteuil in Paris: you can play all of these and more, right there in your own living room.

The stops in the Johannus LiVE have all been recorded key by key

Upon purchasing a Johannus LiVE, the organist receives two standard sample sets on a USB stick. These can be transferred to the organ’s memory, which can accommodate as many as five full sets. Each sample set contains the authentic, professional recordings of an international pipe organ. These stops have been recorded key by key and can be operated on the Johannus LiVE by means of illuminated stop tabs or wooden drawknobs.

Dozens of extra sample sets from international organs to choose from

In addition to the two standard sample sets supplied, there are dozens of sample sets available for order containing your choice of authentic, professional recordings of international pipe organs. The sample sets can be ordered from Johannus.

Four different listening positions per organ

The authentic and high-quality Johannus LiVE sound can be played from four different positions in the church for each sample. The first position places the organist on the organ bench. The direct transmission of sound dominates the experience, while the spatial acoustics are secondary. The second position sets the organist in the audience, close to the front of the organ. The reverb is already coming into play, but the direct sound is still the primary focus. In the third position, the organist is positioned right in the middle of the church, where sound and reverb merge together as if in a CD recording. The fourth position places the organist at the back of the church, beyond the scope of the reverb.

The organist at the heart

The Johannus LiVE positions the organist at the heart of the musical experience, with the sound of the speakers angled directly towards their ears. The organ sounds are crafted to blend with the space in which the original pipe organ is situated. It takes almost no effort for organists to imagine themselves seated at the manuals of historic pipe organs in famous cathedrals, since as far as their ears can tell, that’s exactly where they are.
