Musical contribution - D. Hart - June 2011

My dear friend and Johannus colleague, Gert Stoffer, inspired my dedication of this festival setting to his honor. The Hymn is in three parts: • Verse 1 (E-flat), traditionally harmonized • Verse 2 (C major), reed solo • Verse 3 (C major), free harmonization

Thus, its setting allows for several verses of the hymn for congregational singing. Alternatively, the piece
may be played as a concluding voluntary.
 
The fanfares and interludes are written to add excited to the arrangement, but should not be a “flashy”
end unto themselves. Keep the tempo steady.

Always remember to breathe during the playing of the fanfares and verses.
