Ecclesia organ for the Cathedral of Christ the Living Saviour in Sri Lanka

The Netherlands is not only known for its expertise in water and health or for cheese and windmills, but the Netherlands is also an organ country.

Nowhere in the world can so many historically valuable organs be found within such a small area. The Cathedral of Christ the Living Saviour has recently bought a Dutch built Johannus Ecclesia organ.

Johannus Organs is a Dutch family business specialised in building and installing home and church organs. Our Deputy Head of Mission Lianne Houben was present at the service of dedication to listen to its majestic sound in combination with the Church Choir and the De Lanerolle Brothers.

The first public performance of the organ will be on October 8 when Neranjan de Silva will celebrate 30 years as an accompanist. The concert promises to be very grand with 20 of the best choirs in Sri Lanka singing together as one mass choir of more than 300 mature voices, and presided over by the Bishop of Colombo. Come and listen for yourself! The ‘Celebration in Song’ will begin at 19:30. Tickets are still available at Rs. 500.
