Nicaea : “Holy, holy, holy! Lord God almigthy” - André van Vliet

(LiVE Sampleset: Amsterdam, Vater-Müller)

We regularly feature hymns that belong in the ‘Famous Hymns Worldwide’ category. And we’re doing that this month too. The melody was composed by John Bacchus Dykes. The name ‘Nicaea’ was due to the Trinitarian nature of the text, written for Trinity Sunday.

This arrangement is an excerpt from an extended arrangement for large brass section, timpani and organ. Of course, the Chorale can also be played with a fair amount of doubling. The entire piece is fortissimo.
