Hybrid Monarke organ for the Roman Catholic Church in Gelterkinden, Switzerland
Johannus recently installed a wonderful Monarke organ in the Römisch-katholische Kirche Maria Mittlerin in Gelterkinden, Switzerland. The church already had an electro-pneumatic Graf organ with 26 stops, but the console and controls of this pipe organs were in need of an overhaul. There was also the feeling that the organ wasn’t quite filling the space properly, and that it limited the organists in terms of their registration options. It was a rather Romantic organ, and they wanted to be able to play works from other style periods as well.

The Face of Johannus, ep. 8: Thanks in part to Vincent, 55,000 people in Manilla were able to sing simultaneously, along with a Monarke
Some years ago, Project Manager Vincent van Os was involved with one of the most prestigious projects in Johannus’ history. Within just six weeks, an organ had to be delivered to the world’s largest indoor arena, so that a gathering of 55,000 could sing simultaneously. “We’d never designed an organ for such a large space before.”
The Face of Johannus, ep. 9: Bertus: guardian of the high-quality Johannus sound
The Johannus sound is world-famous. How is it actually created? And what makes that sound so special? Bertus Lap gives a peek behind the musical scenes at the Global Organ Group. “Often people get emotional when they hear their new organ playing for the first time. At that moment you realize that you really add something to their musical experience.”
The Face of Johannus, ep. 7: Krijn and Jan Bert transform mathematical formulas into pure musical emotion
Krijn van Baren and Jan Bert Kuipers are the “lab technicians” of the Global Organ Group. All of the technical piping and wiring in Johannus organs has at some point passed through their figurative test tubes and pipettes, and they enjoy their work immensely. “But the open factory days are the best part of all. During these days we meet customers whose musical imagination has been awakened by our organs.”
The Face of Johannus, ep. 6: The musical fantasies of Dirk and Goos: an organ in kit form, and a console made of Plexiglas
You don’t have to be an organist yourself to design beautiful organs, and Global Organ Group’s Product Design Engineers Goos van Kuilenberg and Dirk Verschoor are proof of that. “I can’t play the organ and I don’t think I’ll ever be able to. But I think it’s wonderful to work together on creating an instrument on which others can express themselves creatively.”
New on Johannus LiVE: the Adema organ of the Basilica in Raalte, NL
Raalte lies in the heart of Salland (Netherlands), and in the heart of Raalte is the Basiliek van de Heilige Kruisverheffing (Basilica of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross). This Gothic Revival church, built in 1891 and 1892, is also known as ‘Salland Cathedral’. The church is home to a great musical treasure – the three-manual Joseph Adema organ.
The Face of Johannus, ep. 5: Jelmer is a walking encyclopedia for customers and dealers around the world
Perhaps a Monarke recently delivered to America has suffered a lightning strike. Or the pedal of a thirty-year-old Johannus down the road has given up the ghost after years of faithful service. The Global Organ Group’s Aftersales Engineer Jelmer Slotegraaf hangs up after a call from an overseas dealer (“Good evening, bye-bye!”) and then takes a call from a local private customer (“Goedemorgen, zegt u het maar”).
