Variationen und Finale “Ah, vous dirai-je, Maman”         Christian Heinrich Rinck (1770-1846)

(LiVE Sampleset: Amsterdam, Vater-Müller)

This internationally famous song owes its popularity to Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. It’s said that Mozart wrote his variations on this melody after first becoming acquainted with it during a visit to Paris. Since then, many more composers have written arrangements of it, including Christian Heinrich Rinck.

And as we’ve seen twice before with Rinck, once again he’s presented us with a number of variations. The original has several more, but we’ll restrict ourselves here to the most accessible of them. After opening in a minor key, the song itself is in C major. The four variations come with registration requirements. You might like to consider a large organ effect for the finale.

Warm regards,
