Johann Gottfried Vierling (1750-1813)
Johann Gottfried Vierling studied at one of J.S. Bach’s sons, namely Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach. Vierling served as cantor and organist in Schmalkalden. Although he left behind some compositions and a book on continuo playing, he remains relatively unknown in music history.
Given the importance of trio playing (as we mentioned earlier), this month we present another work from this genre. For further exploration, we kindly refer you to, for example, August 2024.
